On November 21-25, for the first time in Azerbaijan, the “International Week” on “Quality Assurance in Higher Education” was held by Baku Business University within the framework of the “Erasmus+” program. The purpose of the event is to transfer the quality assurance practices of foreign countries’ higher education institutions, including the universities of England, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Turkey and Poland, to Azerbaijan’s higher education institutions.

At the event, the Chairman of the Board of the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education, representatives of 7 universities from 6 leading European countries – England’s Middlesex University, Spain’s University of Jaen, Italy’s University of Tuscia, Dokuz Eylul University from the sister Republic of Turkey, Poland’s WSG University and Katowice University of Economics, 70 from 33 higher educational institutions of Azerbaijan. delegation, including Huseyn Garashov, the rector of the Azerbaijan Academy of Labor and Social Relations, Farhad Mohbaliyev, the vice-rector for teaching and scientific affairs, Parvin Mammadova, the head of the teaching and quality assurance department, Saida Huseynova, the head of the examination department, Nurangiz Mikayilova, the head of the finance and accounting department. also participated.

On the first day of the event, “The role of quality assurance in higher education”, “The quality assurance system of the University of Jaen”, “The Spanish planning and evaluation system”, “The establishment and implementation of the internal quality assurance system at the University of Tuscia”, “The essence and benefits of self-assessment activities in quality assurance”, Presentations were held on the topics “Mechanisms for ensuring the quality of teaching and establishing the teaching process in the experience of Polish universities”. In the following days of the training, foreign partners conducted seminars and group work in such important areas as the functions of the committees on the educational program, the evaluation of the professor-teaching staff, the role of deans in quality assurance, strategic planning, internal audit, and conducting satisfaction surveys.
