Taking care of the citizens, eliminating the difficulties they face, as well as caring for the families of martyrs and veterans, war participants, low-income families, providing the necessary financial and moral support is an important part of the social policy of our state. For this purpose, various projects are being implemented in our country, important works are being done in the direction of ensuring the welfare of citizens and strengthening the social protection of vulnerable population groups.
Along with our state, the leading public organizations of our country also support such humanitarian projects and take care of people belonging to the mentioned category.
As in every field, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation is distinguished by its exemplary activity in this direction as well. Thus, on the initiative of the president of the Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, gifts and presents are sent to families of martyrs, veterans, and low-income families on holidays and significant days for our state, and holiday meals are organized for them.
Azerbaijani trade unions are also among the main participants of the mentioned social projects. In this direction, they respond adequately to all the calls of our state, and also take good steps on their own initiative.
Based on the decisions of the Executive Committee of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan (ATUC), on April 29, 2020, 3,900 living in 76 cities and districts of the republic , 3,900 on March 17, 2021, 4,000 on May 8 of the same year , this year on March 16, 4,065 car convoys filled with food for families of martyrs and veterans, as well as low-income families, were set off.
In addition, funds were allocated to the Council of Trade Unions of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for sending gifts to the families of that category living there. In total, food aid has been distributed to about 15,000 low-income families by ATUC.
As a continuation of this noble mission, a car convoy full of food for 5,500 families of martyrs and veterans living in the regions of the republic was set off on the basis of the decision of the ATUC Executive Committee in connection with the upcoming Victory Day on November 5. This includes the families of martyrs and veterans living in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In addition to ATUC, field trade unions also provide food assistance to families of the mentioned categories in all regions on this eve.
In an interview with journalists, the chairman of ATUC, MP of the Milli Majlis, Sattar Mohbaliyev said that there is solidarity in our country in connection with Victory Day: “All state bodies, public organizations, including our citizens, meet with the members of martyrs’ families, veterans, veterans, take care of their concerns, and give them gifts.
They are fully covered by the concerns of our state. Almost all their needs are fully met by the state. It is known to all of us that Azerbaijan is one of the rare countries that gives the highest price to its martyrs.
Regardless of who they are, it is the sacred duty of each of us not to forget our sons and daughters who died for the Motherland, to support their parents, spouses, and children who remain a legacy.”
S.Mohbaliyev noted that trade unions provide regular support to the families of martyrs and veterans: “They provide them with financial assistance, take part of the children of martyrs under their protection, and provide them with trips to have a meaningful rest and protect their health. Today, on the occasion of the upcoming Victory Day, we sent gifts to 4,500 families of martyrs and veterans. Our main goal is to remember them on their special day and provide material and moral support. The other day, we met some of the family members of our martyrs, whose children were taken into care by ATUC, and we were praised for their care. This is the sacred duty of each of us. Because they martyred their loved ones on the way to this Motherland and land.”
The deputy of Milli Majlis added that we will continue our projects of this type from now on.
