The 5th World Congress of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) is being held in Melbourne, Australia.

The congress is attended by representatives of the trade unions of the member countries of ITUC.

Our country is represented at the event by the Azerbaijani delegation led by the chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), member of the Milli Mejlis, Sattar Mohbaliyev.

On the third day of the congress, US President Joseph Biden made a video address and wished success to the work of the congress.

The following speakers said that robotization or automation is increasing by 10 percent every year in the world. In order for workers not to lose their jobs, taking this development into account, trade unions should raise the problems brought by technological development for the benefit of workers in collective negotiations, and obligations should be placed on the employer to eliminate such problems. Although artificial intelligence is a product of natural intelligence, the human brain, it causes millions of people to become unemployed. It was noted that the situation in the service sector in countries such as Britain, France, and the United States is expected to worsen significantly in the next 10 years.
