A seminar against forced labor was held in Agstafa

A seminar on “The role of trade unions in the implementation of Convention No. 105 on the abolition of forced labor of the International Labor Organization (ILO)” was held by the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation (ATUC) in Agstafa region.

The event was attended by Tural Süleymanov, a specialist of the Organizational Affairs and Information Department of AHIK, and local representatives of field trade unions from Agstafa and surrounding regions.

  1. Suleymanov spoke about forced labor, which is a general international problem, about the violated rights of people in this field, which are mostly observed in the private sector, and also about the legal aspects of the methods and means of fighting against forced labor.

He brought to the attention of the participants the role of trade unions in the fight against forced labor, the duties of the institution, and the importance of increasing the number of educational work. He emphasized that our state pays special attention to the implementation of Convention No. 105, national labor legislation in accordance with international standards has been formed and is being improved in our country.

Suleymanov also talked about the protection of the rights of victims of forced labor, the absolute compensation of the damage caused to them, strengthening the work of labor inspection services in this field, as well as the elimination of the main reasons and factors that increase the risks of forced labor.

At the end, the questions of the participants were answered and a broad exchange of ideas was held.
