On August 26, under the organization of “Agriculture-Food-Work” published by ATUC with the support of ILO in Baku, “Strengthening the potential of ATUC for effective participation in ILO programs and processes on sustainable development” and “2030 “Report for the period of review and evaluation of the measures taken in the Republic of Azerbaijan to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” was presented.
Tofig Guliyev, chairman of the “Agriculture-Food-Work” Trade Union Federation, Ali Jafarov, deputy head of the Organizational Affairs and Information Department of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, chairmen of the first organizations of the Federation and trade union activists took part in the presentation ceremony.
First, Tofig Guliyev, chairman of the “Agriculture-Food-Work” trade union Federation, read the Twitter account of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev: “Azerbaijani Army has settled in the city of Lachin. The villages of Zabukh and Sus were taken under control. I congratulate all the people of Lachin and the people of Azerbaijan on this occasion. Long live Lachin! Long live Azerbaijan!” and congratulated everyone on this occasion. Then Tofig Guliyev informed about the 17 goals of sustainable development, national measures and progress in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals. The floor for the report was given to the Deputy Chairman of the Federation, Tahmasib Aliyev. He noted that at the center of the country’s sustainable socio-economic development strategy is the human factor, the principle of providing every citizen with a decent place of residence and a decent job.
In order to achieve this goal, the main goal of the policy implemented in Azerbaijan is to reduce the level of absolute poverty in the country to the minimum possible and to improve the welfare of all layers of the population by strengthening measures to combat poverty at all levels.
He stated that complementary strategic projects and socio-economic programs are implemented in Azerbaijan in this direction.
In the end, Ali Jafarov, the deputy head of the Organizational Affairs and Information Department of ATUC, conveyed the greetings of ATUC Chairman, Milli Mejlis deputy Sattar Mohbaliyev to the event participants and spoke about the role of Azerbaijani trade unions in the life of the country, the work done, and the projects implemented.
At the end, the questions of the participants were answered and a broad exchange of ideas was held.
