Today, the Azerbaijani press, which was founded by the great Azerbaijani intellectual Hasan Bey Zardabi with the newspaper “Akinchi”, is at a high stage of development. Our press has an exceptional role in strengthening the national unity and solidarity of our people and educating all sections of the society.
In the first years of independence, the press of Azerbaijan was subjected to pressure and censorship. After the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev came to power at the request of the people, all these were eliminated in a short time, and the press began to operate freely and freely.
Today, our country has a diversified press and information system that can compete with the world’s leading and most advanced mass media. Our press plays an important role in the life of the society by delivering accurate, impartial and reliable information to the public and ensures the right of citizens to receive complete, honest and prompt information.
The development of mass media in our country and the improvement of social conditions of journalists have always been the focus of the head of state Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
In the Patriotic War, which ended with our brilliant victory, our media demonstrated the ability to work under conditions of war and martial law. Also, thanks to their professionalism, dedication and flexibility, it was possible to convey the true facts of the war, accurate and complete information about the war crimes of the Armenian side to the world community.
Once again, I congratulate all journalists and employees working in the press and information system on the occasion of the National Press Day, I wish each of them happiness and success, creative success and new achievements!
