Azerbaijani-Polish relations are developing

On June 2, members of the Milli Majlis working group on interparliamentary relations with Poland met with the head of the inter-parliamentary friendship group of the Polish Parliament with Azerbaijan Joanna Lichotska and members of the group.

Greeting the delegation, head of the Working Group on Inter-Parliamentary Relations of the Milli Majlis with Poland Sattar Mohbaliyev said the relations between our countries and peoples are based on deep roots, noted that the Poles, who moved to Azerbaijan many years ago, live in friendship with the local population, and talked about the contribution of Polish experts in the construction of architectural and in the development of oil industry.

Sattar Mohbaliyev said the reciprocal visits of the heads of state and the talks held during these visits were important in strengthening friendly relations between the two countries, adding that our relations in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres were developing steadily.

Stating that parliaments play an important role in expanding relations between the two countries, the MP praised the development of relations between the legislatures and the mutual visits of delegations. He said that friendship groups operate in the parliaments of both countries. He stressed the importance of mutually beneficial cooperation between the Azerbaijani and Polish delegations in the authoritative international parliamentary bodies.

Sattar Mohbaliyev said that Azerbaijani lands have been under Armenian occupation for a long time and spoke about the Khojaly genocide committed by Armenians against our people. He noted that the Azerbaijani army led by Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev ended the occupation in 2020 as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War. He spoke about the new realities in the region.

Emphasizing the importance of developing relations between the two countries at the parliamentary level, the guest stressed the importance of mutual visits and meetings in terms of exchange of experience and information in the field of legislation. He said Poland was interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan in various fields.

In their speeches, Polish MPs Barbara Bartus and Bohuslaw Wontor also spoke about the strengthening of relations between our countries and peoples, noting that there are good opportunities for further expansion of economic and trade cooperation.

During the conversation, members of the parliamentary working group on interparliamentary relations with Poland Sevinj Huseynova and Nizami Safarov expressed their views on relations between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by members of the working group on interparliamentary relations with Poland Kamran Bayramov, Vugar Bayramov, Ulviya Hamzayeva, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Poland Nargiz Gurbanova.
