Organized by the Trade Union of the Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, an event was held on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan on June 26 in the military unit No. “N” of Civil Defense Troops of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, located in Gabala, with the participation of 44 veterans of the Patriotic War.
Mehman Ismayilov, Chairman of the Trade Union of MES Employees, Javanshir Alkhasov, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation, Arif Abdullayev, Deputy Head of the Executive Authority of Gabala District, Sadiq Bekirli, Head of the North-West Regional Center of the MES and Rashad Hajiyev, Commander of Military Unit No. “N”, a group of officers and soldiers participated in the event.
The events started with the performance of the State Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and then the dear memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland was remembered with one minute silence.
Mehman Ismayilov, Chairman of the Trade Union of MES Employees, spoke about the history of the establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, congratulated servicemen and soldiers, veterans and families of martyrs on the occasion of the holiday.
He said that according to the decree signed by the national leader Heydar Aliyev on May 22, 1998, June 26, the day of the establishment of the first Special Army Corps of Azerbaijan under the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on June 26, 1918 was declared the Day of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
“The fact that Azerbaijan has a powerful and regular army today is the result of the hard work of the Great Leader, and the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan are successfully continuing their glorious mission today under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev,” said Mehman Ismayilov. As a result of President Ilham Aliyev’s unparalleled work in the field of army building, as well as during the leadership of Azerbaijan, a healthy and patriotic young generation has grown up.Our lands under occupation were liberated from occupation in just 44 days thanks to the bravery and sacrifice of the professional soldiers of Azerbaijan and young patriotic children.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Union also touched on the work done by President Ilham Aliyev in the direction of providing social support for families of martyrs, war disabled and veterans, social support for them in the post-war period, employment, housing, individual houses and cars.
In his speech, Mehman Ismailov also spoke about the attention and care shown by the First Lady of the country, First Vice President of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva to the families of martyrs, war disabled and veterans.
He noted that the special attention, initiative and dedication shown by Mehriban Aliyeva as the head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in solving the concerns of martyr families, war disabled and veterans, especially their social and medical rehabilitation problems, is commendable.
It was reported that the Trade Union of MES Employees, adhering to tradition, on the eve of the Armed Forces Day a rest for 44 veterans of the Patriotic War in the village of Nabran, a trip of parents of 44 martyrs to Zangilan and a tree-planting campaign was organized. There will also be a meeting with the mothers of 44 martyrs in Gabala tomorrow. At the end of his speech, Mehman Ismayilov stated that such measures will be continued to take care of the families of martyrs and veterans. He once again congratulated the participants of the meeting on the occasion of Armed Forces Day and wished them success.
Later, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation Javanshir Alkhasov, Deputy Head of the Executive Authority of Gabala District Arif Abdullayev spoke about the work carried out for the social and moral support of the families of martyrs, disabled people and participants of the war.
At the end of the event, precious gifts were presented to 44 veterans of the Patriotic War from Gabala region on behalf of the Trade Union of MES Employees.
