“On April 12, the meeting dedicated to the results of the first quarter of 2022, chaired by the head of state Mr. Ilham Aliyev, once again confirmed that the dynamic development covering all spheres of the country’s life in previous years continued during 3 months of this year and the indicators are much higher. Thus, the gross domestic product grew by 6.8 percent. This, of course, is a continuation of last year’s success. It is clear that as a result of ongoing and successful reforms, the economic power of our country is constantly growing. Although there is still a crisis due to the pandemic in the world, the situation in Azerbaijan is completely different, there is sustainable development in all areas. By the way, I would like to note that our country is one of the few countries that has won the pandemic by all indicators. And this once again demonstrated the economic power of Azerbaijan to the world. In the last three months, our non-oil economy has also grown, as this sector has grown by more than 10 percent. This is an effective result of the measures taken to reduce the dependence of our economy on oil. If economic development continues at this pace, the figures will be higher by the end of the year and the economic potential of our country will increase.
This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation (ATUC), MP Sattar Mohbaliyev.
“Of course, the war between Russia and Ukraine has inevitably led to socio-economic consequences in the region, as well as an increase in world food prices. It was noted in the quarterly report that preventive measures have already been taken and stocks are being taken to prevent food shortages in our country. Significant steps are being taken by relevant agencies to prevent artificial price increases. “This shows that our state is always ready for unforeseen events, and the improvement of the social welfare of our citizens is constantly under control,” he said. “The head of state also touched upon the realities brought by Azerbaijan to the region. We really see that these realities are accepted by the world powers and international organizations. They deeply understand that this situation is based on peace and security, and understand the importance of cooperation between the countries of the region in all areas, including economic cooperation. This issue, of course, is clear to the Armenian side. The only way out of the quagmire they have fallen into as a result of the occupation policy is to cooperate with the countries of the region. For this, it is necessary to accept the realities determined by the winning country – Azerbaijan and the 5 principles proposed. Appropriate measures are being taken to modernize and further strengthen the Azerbaijani Army. Speaking about this issue, the head of state reiterated that as much money as is needed to resolve military issues will be allocated. This confirms that our country will continue to increase its defense capabilities. The creation of a commando type of troops and the increase in the number of Special Forces personnel are like that, ”the ATUC chairman said.
“Mr. President also spoke about the work to be done by the end of the year. The most important of these is the landscaping work in East Zangazur and Karabakh. We know that our state is doing everything possible to ensure that residents return to their homes as soon as possible. Large-scale restoration and reconstruction works are being carried out, new roads are being built, cities and villages are being built. The head of state gave special instructions to prepare master plans for the cities of Shusha, Jabrayil, Kalbajar, Zangilan, Gubadli, as well as the settlements of Hadrut and Sugovushan. “The work done and the projects implemented give us reason to say that East Zangazur and Karabakh will be one of the developed regions of Azerbaijan, and the existing economic potential there will add new strength to the strength of our country,” Mohbaliyev added.
