The opening ceremony of a mini-football tournament organized by the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Public Administration and Public Service Workers of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held. Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Republican Committee Hikmet Osmanov said that on the eve of the national leader’s birthday, various events are organized by diaspora organizations and embassies in Azerbaijan and many countries around the world. The memory of the great leader, the founder of Azerbaijan, is honored. The mini-football tournaments are one of them.
According to him, Great Leader Heydar Aliyev saved Azerbaijan from great troubles and tragedies, led the country to the path of stability, economic development and progress, and set a vivid example of loyal service to the Motherland: “Heydar Aliyev was a great politician with a global outlook. As a realist, he took a pragmatic approach to events, was able to correctly assess the historical situation, and made successful decisions for the fate of the country. Throughout his career, this genius politician has proved to be a wise man, a professional leader, a far-sighted politician and a wise statesman who has won the love of the people”.
“The sports policy of our country, the foundation of which was laid by great leader Heydar Aliyev, shows its positive results in the international arena thanks to the attention and care of the head of our state, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Our athletes proudly wave our national flag in all competitions they represent. Azerbaijan is already known in the world as a country with a high level of sports development. The medals and awards won by our athletes at the European and world championships, other achievements, as well as the high interest in sports and state support in our country are in the focus of the international sports community and sports federations. The first European Games “Baku-2015” and the IV Islamic Solidarity Games were organized at a high level in our country. All this is the result of the successful sports policy of President Ilham Aliyev, “Osmanov said.

It should be noted that the winners of the 20 teams that will compete in 4 groups will be determined on the eve of the 99th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev. The winning teams will be awarded trophies, medals and cash prizes.
