Taking care of every citizen, overcoming the problems they face, especially paying attention to the families of martyrs and veterans, war participants, low-income families, providing them with material and moral support is the main line of President Ilham Aliyev’s domestic policy. For this purpose, various projects are being implemented in our country, very important work is being done to ensure the welfare of citizens and strengthen the social protection of vulnerable groups.

Along with government agencies, the country’s leading public organizations also support such humanitarian projects, and care is provided for this category of people.

All activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation are an example in this direction. At the initiative of President of the Foundation Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, the Foundation always sends gifts to low-income families and people in need of special care, including on holidays and significant days for our country, and organizes holiday dinners for thousands of people in need of social assistance.

Azerbaijani Trade Unions are also key participants in these social projects. In this regard, they adequately respond to all calls of our state, as well as take good steps on their own initiatives.

Thus, on the basis of the decisions of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation (ATUC) gifts were distributed to 3,900 people living in 76 cities and regions of the country on April 29, 2020, to the same number – 3,900 people living in 76 cities and regions on March 17, 2021, to 4,000 people living in 76 cities and regions and also to families of 1,000 martyrs and veterans, victims of pandemic and low-income families living in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on 8 May, 2021.

As a continuation of this noble tradition, according to the decision of the ATUC Executive Committee dated March 4, 2022, a caravan of food was sent to 4,065 low-income families living in 76 regions of the country on 16th of March on the occasion of Novruz holiday. In addition, 50,000 manat was transferred to the Trade Union Council of the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan for this purpose.

In an interview with journalists, ATUC Chairman, MP Sattar Mohbaliyev said that Azerbaijani Trade Unions always pay attention to the families of martyrs, veterans, war participants, as well as low-income families, and do not spare any help from them:

“We have provided various assistance to vulnerable groups, both during the pandemic and during the war and beyond. In this case, the field trade unions are also active. They are provided with the necessary assistance on all significant days. We are also always interested in the problems of the families of martyrs and their children, and we try to support them in every possible way. The families of the martyrs are visited, gifts are presented and such events are held regularly. We are also constantly interested in the problems of the families of martyrs and their children, and try to support them in every possible way. The families of martyrs are visited, gifts are presented, and such events are of regular nature.”

Mohbaliyev noted that the children of martyrs are also under the protection of trade unions: “So far, we have taken care of 286 children of 172 martyrs. Every month money is transferred to their account. It is true that they are fully protected by our state, but we, as well as public organizations – must provide them with all kinds of support. Along with trade union members, union also provides the families of martyrs and veterans with vouchers. We send them to recreation centers and sanatoriums for their recreation and treatment.”

The ATUC chairman emphasized that we also contribute to “YASHAT” Foundation: “At the meeting of Executive Committee of ATUC held on March 4, it was decided to transfer another 50,000 manat to the YASHAT Foundation, and thus we transferred a total of 658,870 manat to the Foundation. At the same time, we are contributing to the restoration of our liberated territories. At the last meeting of the Executive Committee it was decided to transfer another 50,000 manat to the Karabakh Revival Fund. Thus, the total amount transferred to the Fund is 650,000 manat. Today, one of the main tasks of our state is the return of IDPs to their homes. As you know, landscaping work is underway in East Zangazur and Karabakh. Some projects have already been completed. We believe that in the near future these territories will be reminiscent of paradise and residents will live happily forever in those areas, as the president of our country, Mr. Ilham Aliyev said.”

The deputy of the Milli Majlis added that we will continue our humanitarian projects of this type in the future.
