The large-scale projects implemented by Azerbaijan in ensuring the energy security of Europe, including the world, once again confirm the effective results of the energy policy defined by our country. The work done in this direction is already increasing the country’s prestige at the regional and international levels. The Southern Gas Corridor project is similar. Thus, the project further enhances the role of our country in this area, acting as a major player in overcoming the gas crisis facing Europe today. The implementation of the project also makes an important contribution to the development of cooperation between the participating states and ensuring security in the region.
This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation (ATUC), MP Sattar Mohbaliyev.
According to him, at the 8th ministerial meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Consultative Council in Baku, EU Commissioners, the United States, Great Britain, Turkey, Georgia, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Albania, Croatia, Hungary, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Northern Macedonia The participation of high-level representatives from Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine and Turkmenistan, as well as the participation of a number of leading companies and financial institutions from around the world, shows the growing interest in the project and its expanding scale: “Also, the views expressed and the proposals put forward once again confirm that Azerbaijan is strengthening its position as a reliable partner in all areas, including energy security. In his speech, President Ilham Aliyev also paid special attention to this issue. “Since the beginning of the export process, our country has not experienced any delays in supply, has not violated the terms of the contract, and Azerbaijan has fulfilled its obligations with dignity, remaining true to its obligations.”
“The Southern Gas Corridor is one of the largest projects in the world. Not allowing the pipeline to pass through very difficult reliefs – high mountains, sea troughs, the pipeline meets high quality standards. Azerbaijan fulfilled its duties in a timely and flexible manner towards the successful completion of the project. According to economists ‘ estimates, our country will receive billions of dollars in revenue from the blue gas it will export within the corridor. This means an increase in our country’s foreign exchange reserves, budget revenues, further expansion of its economic opportunities,” the MP said.
