The Sochi meeting is another diplomatic victory of Azerbaijan

“Azerbaijan’s glorious victory in the war on the battlefield has ensured our diplomatic superiority. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, represents the interests of our country with dignity based on his strong and logical diplomatic potential. We witnessed this once again at the trilateral meeting held in Sochi on November 26 this year with the participation of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia, as well as the Prime Minister of Armenia. The statement signed by the leaders of the three countries, as well as the views expressed in the statements, fully meet the interests of Azerbaijan and are in its interests as a victorious country.

This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, MP Sattar Mohbaliyev.

According to him, the fact that the name of Karabakh was not mentioned in the November 26 statement shows once again that this conflict has gone down in history: “It also does not touch upon the issue of captives or hostages claimed by the Armenian side. A supporter of peace and stability, Azerbaijan has always expressed its readiness to recognize each other’s borders, begin the process of delimitation and demarcation, as well as sign a peace agreement, and made a number of proposals in this regard. Accordingly, the statement reflects the interests of our country in the delimitation of the state border between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and then the establishment of a bilateral commission on demarcation of the border with the assistance of Russia at the request of the parties. We can say with confidence that the results are very positive and Azerbaijan has achieved its goals. ”

The ATUC chairman recalled that Azerbaijan had tried for years to resolve the conflict politically, but Armenia’s aggressive position and both political and regular military provocations that disrupted the negotiation process prevented it. Azerbaijan carried out the resolutions of the Council on the conflict on its own, without any outside support. As the conflict goes down in history, new perspectives have emerged. Of course, the long-running conflict has had a negative impact on the development of the region as well as the country. As a victorious country, the new realities created by Azerbaijan based on peace and security meet the interests of all countries in the region. One of the most important points here is the Zangazur corridor, in which opening the countries of the region are willingly and it has great economic and political importance. The head of state has repeatedly stated that the corridor will be opened in any way. Despite the artificial obstacles created by the Armenian side, the thoughtful policy of President Ilham Aliyev brings us closer to this. After a worthy response to Armenia’s military provocation on November 16, new realities have emerged that will force the country to make concessions. The diplomatic advantage gained by Azerbaijan at the trilateral meeting on November 26 once again shows that the opening of the Zangazur corridor is not far off. Also, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s views on transport corridors, as well as the clauses in the November 26 statement on the opening of railway and transport links, show that the interests of Moscow and Baku coincide.

Noting that landscaping works are being carried out successfully and comprehensively in the liberated territories, the MP added that we witness this every time President Ilham Aliyev visits East Zangazur and Karabakh. The Armenian side has not yet submitted the full mine maps. The discussion of the issue of mine maps at the Sochi meeting is another success of our country, and it shows that significant progress will be made in this direction in the near future.

“We have seen the activity, or rather the inactivity, of the OSCE Minsk Group, which has been committed to resolving the conflict for many years. This body seemed more interested in continuing the conflict than in resolving it based on double standards. Despite all the facts, both the occupier and the occupier were treated equally, and this body could not do anything. Since the “Nagorno-Karabakh conflict” no longer exists, I think the existence of this body is formal. Of the co-chairs, only Russia is more active and proactive in this matter. The fact that the OSCE Minsk Group was not mentioned in the statement, as well as the fact that the status issue was not discussed at all, is a direct diplomatic victory for Azerbaijan. “Prevention of Armenian provocations on the border on November 16 and further strengthening of our army’s position played an important role in ensuring this victory,” Mohbaliyev said.
