Employees of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), as well as members and subordinate organizations of the organization took part in the tree-planting campaign within the framework of the “Green Marathon” initiated by Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA Public Association Leyla Aliyeva, December 3.
The tree planting action was carried out in the area of 280 hectares intended for landscaping in Garadagh district, Mushfigabad settlement.
More than 150 employees of trade unions planted 1,000 Eldar Pines and olive trees in accordance with the soil and climatic conditions of the area.
Chairman of ATUC, Member of Parliament Sattar Mohbaliyev and Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev attended the action.
ATUC chairman Sattar Mohbaliyev told reporters that this campaign will expand the area of greenery areas in our country, increase flora biodiversity, make a great contribution to the protection of the environment and enlightenment on the protection of greenery: “it will also play an important role in improving the overall environmental situation, minimizing the impacts of climate change, and ensure the green future for us. We believe that the trees we plant will be of great benefit in creating a healthy environment and protecting the environment.”
S.Mohbaliyev noted that continuing the tradition, Trade Unions will continue to take an active part in the tree-planting campaign. ATUC chairman also stressed that they will join the tree-planting campaign in Turkey.
It should be noted that within the framework of the” Green marathon ” project, about 1 million trees are planned to be planted in the country.
