Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC) held webinar on “analytical reference for trade union employees on the development of trade union strategy for fair transition to environmentally sustainable economy through the creation of green jobs in the Republic of Azerbaijan”.
The event was attended by ATUC leaders, as well as representatives of member organizations.
In the opening speech, the first deputy chairman of ATUC Ilyas Aliyev spoke about the growing economic power of our country, the development of the non-oil sector, integration into the world economy, energy and resource-saving ecologically clean technologies, the coordinated activities of various industries and the successful economic activity of the head of our state Mr. Ilham Aliyev in this direction.
Then the speakers spoke about the development opportunities of the green economy, nature conservation projects, ways of development of green technology, investment projects that reduce pollution, increase the efficiency of energy and resource use, as well as prevent the loss of biodiversity and environmental services.
It was noted that the industry indicators prove once again that Azerbaijan is already becoming a powerful industrial center of the region. It was noted that Sumgayit chemical industry, Garadagh, Mingachevir, Pirallahi and Balakhany industrial parks operate as an example of green economy.
It was also noted that a book on the analysis of the green economy, the work done, the results of a survey conducted by the Confederation and expert opinions will be published in the near future.
