“From the first day of the Patriotic War, the Azerbaijan Army has achieved great success in the Fuzuli direction. The villages of the district began to be liberated from occupation. Despite the fact that the enemy had been fortified for nearly 30 years, built strong fortifications and called it “impenetrable”, our army broke through that line of defense with one attack and began to advance rapidly. Of course, these successes show the professionalism and invincibility of our Armed Forces. Our people welcomed the liberation of villages and even smaller settlements with great joy. However, the liberation of the district centers and cities from occupation created a special mood among the people, they congratulated each other. The liberation of the Fuzuli city after Jabrayil further increased the people’s confidence in the victory and played an extremely important role for our next goals on our way to victory.”
This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), MP Sattar Mohbaliyev.
“As you know, our Army had different tactics to liberate every village, settlement and city from occupation. At the same time, the relief, climate and plans of the enemy were considered in advance. The uniqueness of the Fuzuli operation was that our Army entered the city from a different direction than the enemy expected. Already in the final stages of the attack, the only way out for the enemy was to drop his weapon and flee. After this operation, military experts openly said that our Army has great combat capability and technical support. Like other operations, this operation is currently being investigated and studied at the leading higher military schools of the world. These services of our soldiers and officers were not left out of the attention of our state. By the orders of President Ilham Aliyev, 25,167 servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who fought here and demonstrated personal courage and bravery, was awarded the “For the Liberation of Fuzuli” medal.”
- Mohbaliyev noted that 17th of October will always live in the memory of all our people, along with the residents of Fuzuli. It is today that the longing for the homeland was put to an end and the city of Fuzuli was liberated as the result of the unprecedented heroism shown by our Army: “Today, rapid landscaping and construction works are being carried out in Fuzuli region, huge projects are being implemented. We witness this during the presentation of the work done and to be done during each visit of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, to the region. Since the end of the war, the head of our state has repeatedly visited Fuzuli district. During his last visit on October 17, Mr. President got acquainted with the work done and took part in the groundbreaking ceremonies. The laying of the foundations of the Fuzuli-Agdam highway, the Digital Substation Control Center, the new “smart village” in the village of Dovletyarli, as well as the first residential buildings demonstrate the wide scale and importance of the work done. Such a fast and high-quality work, indeed, makes us believe that the residents will soon be resettled in these areas and will continue their previous normal lives.”
