“Since its discovery, our country has been effectively fighting the COVID-19 virus. Compared to other countries, Azerbaijan is one of the countries with the least damage from the pandemic and minimal losses. The reason for this, of course, is the sustainable economic power of our state and its flexible and adequate response to the situation. Azerbaijan is also on the list of the first countries to receive the coronavirus vaccine and start vaccination. If you remember, when the virus entered our country, President Ilham Aliyev said that the most important issue for us is the health of our citizens, and under this slogan, preventive measures were taken, all our citizens suffering from the pandemic were covered by state care. This once again shows that the state is always with its citizens”.

This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), MP Sattar Mohbaliyev.

Mohbaliyev noted that the vaccination platforms introduced by President Ilham Aliyev with great foresight have shown positive results.

The chairman said that it is the result of this that today the population in our country has the opportunity to choose 4 types of vaccines: “Each of them is effective and safe, no side effects have been observed. The real situation shows that the only and most important way to protect against any virus is vaccination. Statistics show that every year hundreds of people around the world die from diseases that require the vaccine because they are not vaccinated, and are a source of danger to those around them. For this, everyone should be responsible and vaccinated to protect themselves and their loved ones. Today, the vaccination process is being successfully implemented in our country. According to the latest data of the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers, 9,073,493 people have already been vaccinated in our country. The total number of people vaccinated in the first stage is 4,916,894, and in the second stage – 4,156,599. It is also clear from the statistics that the situation in this area in our country is satisfactory and our citizens are more responsible in this matter.

“The current situation with the virus in the world, the emergence of new strains requires the improvement of methods of combating the disease and the adoption of advanced measures. According to experts, the vaccine can also lose the maximum level of protection over time. This requires a new dose. Following the emergence of a new Delta variant as a result of a coronavirus mutation, a number of countries, including Azerbaijan, are offering a third vaccine dose – a booster dose. Experts confirm that this dose re-strengthens the immune system and increases the effectiveness of the vaccine. It is known that people vaccinated with both doses are at risk of contracting new strains of the coronavirus. International statistics also confirm the need for revaccination. To do this, the process of taking a booster dose should be accelerated. “This process has already begun in foreign countries, this dose is considered more effective against new strains, has the ability to prevent mild infections and reduce the spread of the virus, as well as hospitalizations and deaths associated with COVID-19,” he said.
