“The Azerbaijani President, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, spoke at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on September 23 as the victorious head of the country and showed the world Azerbaijan’s place and role in the international arena.It was clear in the speech how important Azerbaijan is for both the region and the world. The pandemic has become a test for all countries of the world.Today, we can proudly say that our country has survived this test thanks to the effective measures taken under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev and set an example for all countries. It is no coincidence that the World Health Organization has called Azerbaijan an exemplary country in the fight against pandemics. Thus, as Mr. President said, from the first day, the Government of Azerbaijan has been taking important and practical measures to protect the health of the population and minimize the negative effects of the pandemic.Our country was one of the first countries to launch a vaccination campaign, and the important point is that vaccination is provided free of charge in Azerbaijan.
This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), MP Sattar Mohbaliyev.
According to him, the President has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that rich countries receive more vaccines than they need, acted as an initiator of a fair distribution and expressed concern about the inequality.”In total, the WHO will receive $ 10 million in voluntary financial assistance, humanitarian and financial assistance to support the fight against coronavirus in more than 30 countries, as well as the free delivery of 150,000 doses of vaccine to four countries.In addition, as chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, the launch of a number of international initiatives on this issue is a manifestation of the humane and just position of Azerbaijan and its leader at the international level. Mohbaliyev noted that our head of state is actively involved in the implementation of regional coordination projects such as East-West, North-South and North-West transport corridors, thus becoming one of the main and reliable transport and logistics centers of Eurasia, he reiterated Azerbaijan’s strategic position and global importance.According to the chairman of ATUC, the 18.4 per cent growth of Azerbaijan’s non-oil industry in the 8 months of 2021 is an indicator of our economic strength: “besides crude oil and gas supply, Azerbaijan’s transformation into an exporter of electricity in recent years, export of electricity to four other countries is a confirmation of what we have said.”Recalling that Armenia ignored the international resolutions and decisions adopted at the UN General Assembly session and pursued a policy of occupation for 30 years and looted Azerbaijani lands, the President drew attention to the nature and aggressive position of this state:”Almost the whole world has witnessed the commitment of Azerbaijan and its President Ilham Aliyev to a peaceful solution to the conflict, but the Armenian side has been constantly trying to prolong the occupation by making provocations and making crazy statements that will hinder negotiations. Instead of leaving the territories of Azerbaijan, the Armenian state, eager to occupy new territories, resorted to military intervention. Azerbaijan launched counter-offensive operations to prevent this provocation, and alone, without any assistance, ensured the implementation of four known UN resolutions ignored by Armenia. The behavior of the Azerbaijani Army during the war, in contrast to the Armenian army, the inviolability of the civilian population, the attitude to the military centuries, in short, the full observance of the laws of war is a sign of our country’s commitment to international law.Armenia, as in the negotiation process, waged various provocations during the war, targeted the civilian population, and at night fired banned missiles at our cities far from the front. “Despite such crimes of the Armenian state, the approach of the world powers based on double standards, we have fully restored our sovereign rights, it was our right, it was a victory of historical justice.””The head of State familiarized the world States with the new realities created by Azerbaijan, noting that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has remained in the past, and in general there is no administrative territorial unit of this name, and stressed the importance of not allowing the use of politically biased and manipulative names that do not exist legally when referring to our territories,”Mehbaliyev added.
