“Azerbaijan’s prestige and respect in the international arena is constantly growing. The global initiatives put forward by President Ilham Aliyev are welcomed by international organizations and states. Azerbaijan’s proposals in the fight against the pandemic and the positive reaction of the world community to these proposals once again confirm this. ”

This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), MP Sattar Mohbaliyev.

According to him, today Azerbaijan’s activity in the international arena as the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, its fair position, good management and organizational skills show the strength of our country and the professionalism of its leader: “Azerbaijan held the 18th Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Baku at a high level. The Contact Group of the Movement managed to organize a summit of countries, as well as a special session of the UN General Assembly on the fight against coronavirus on the basis of the proposal of Azerbaijan on behalf of the organization. In addition, a database covering the basic humanitarian and medical needs of the Movement’s member countries has been created, which is now a reference source for the World Health Organization. All this is a sign of our country’s initiative and organizational skills.

The ATUC chairman noted that a look at Azerbaijan’s chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement over the past period shows that the organization is very active and plays an important role in the international arena through its efforts for peace, justice and solidarity. According to him, such activity has not been observed in the organization before, no reaction to any complex global processes has been expressed so far. However, this institution has become a different, more flexible and active organization, adhering to the basic principles of Azerbaijan’s presidency.

Mohbaliyev stressed that at the High-Level Meeting dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Movement, President of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement Ilham Aliyev once again touched upon a number of important and significant points and said that if all countries followed the Bandung principles, there would be no wars and conflicts: We saw the results of double standards during the negotiations on the settlement of the former Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Although there were known UN Security Council resolutions on the settlement of the conflict, there was no pressure on the occupier, no sanctions were imposed, and the issue was viewed with suspicion. Therefore, the occupiers made new claims. Therefore, double approaches must be abandoned, and justice must be done in such matters”. The MP added that in his speech, the head of state protested against the vaccination of rich countries in excess of their needs: “This demonstrates the humane and unchanging position of Azerbaijan, its fair approach. Of course, since it is related to human health, equal opportunities must be created in this regard. Today, there are countries where the vaccination process is very low. Therefore, such negative aspects must be eliminated.
