The organization of treatment, protection and strengthening of health of employees is one of the priorities of trade unions in Azerbaijan. For this purpose, there are 8 sanatoriums and one boarding house of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation (ATUC). 6 of the sanatoriums are open all year round and 2 are seasonal. Every year, thousands of trade union members are provided with referrals, and all conditions are created for their normal treatment.
Chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation (ATUC), MP Sattar Mohbaliyev regularly visits sanatoriums and resorts owned by trade unions, gets acquainted with the situation, talks to vacationers, and is interested in how to organize treatment and recreation.
On September 9, the ATUC chairman visited the Absheron gastrointestinal sanatorium and the Miras recreation center located in the same place. Mohbaliyev toured the sanatorium, inspected the medical center, treatment and living rooms, dining room and kitchen, talked to patients, inquired about the treatment conditions, studied their views and suggestions. Expressing gratitude for the conditions created, people expressed satisfaction with the treatment. It was noted that the sanatorium is regularly disinfected, employees and guests are explained the need to follow the rules of hygiene, social distance, the need to use medical masks indoors, and relevant recommendations are given. Visitors are also required to obtain a COVID-19 vaccine certificate for coronavirus vaccination (two doses). Mohbaliyev said that the number of coronavirus infections in the country is growing, so it is important to follow all the rules required to protect against the virus.
The sanatorium is located in Mardakan settlement, 35 km from Baku and is surrounded by parks and gardens. In addition, the sanatorium has a post office, telegraph, shop and various household services.
In an interview with journalists, the ATUC chairman said that one of the main tasks of trade unions is to organize recreation and take measures to protect the health of its members: “In general, the protection of the health of our citizens has always been in the spotlight. At the beginning of the pandemic, President Ilham Aliyev stated that the main issue for us is the health of our people. Trade unions also consider this a basic principle of their activities and annually refer more than 20,000 members to restore their health. In total, more than a hundred thousand of our members are provided with vouchers to go to recreation and health centers. Every year, the material and technical base of our sanatoriums is strengthened, equipped with modern medical equipment, repaired and adapted to the requirements of the new era. There are all conditions for treatment, guests are provided with professional services. We strive to ensure the rest and health of our members. During the conversation with the guests, we saw that our war veterans and members of the martyr’s family are also being treated here. They are our source of pride, it is the duty of each of us to pay attention to them. The President of the country always recommends to take care of the families of martyrs and veterans.
