On June 4, the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation issued a statement on the death and injury of members of the media and other civilians sent to Kalbajar by an anti-tank mine while moving in the direction of Susuzluq village.

The statement said:

Although the Second Karabakh War ended with the signing of the Tripartite Declaration on November 10, 2020, despite internationally accepted conventions and agreements, Armenia still refuses to provide Azerbaijan with maps of landmines in the liberated territories under various pretexts. These illegal actions have resulted in the death of hundreds of innocent civilians and demonstrate Armenia’s support for terrorism at the state level.

As a result of Armenia’s provocative actions, a Kamaz passenger car with employees of TV channels and news agencies sent to Kalbajar region hit by an anti-tank mine while moving in the direction of Susuzluq village of the region – 3 people – Siraj Abishov (Az) TV channel operator), Maharram Ibrahimov (AzerTaj news agency employee), Arif Aliyev (deputy representative of the head of the Executive Power in Susuzlug village) died, and 4 other people were hospitalized with various injuries.

This shows once again that, contrary to the norms and principles of international law, Armenia, as always, today ignores peace, security and international agreements, and continues all its actions against humanity.

On behalf of the Azerbaijani trade unions, we declare that such actions of Armenia should be given a legal and political assessment by international organizations, putting aside double standards, and condemned by the world community. Also, in order to prevent such incidents in the future, Armenia should be pressured by international organizations and states to provide Azerbaijan with maps of mined areas.

The Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan extends its condolences to the families of those killed in the incident and prays for God’s healing to the injured.
